It’s blog time!!

It’s been 86 years since my last blog and looking back, my last blog was just before Christmas last year! Quite a lot has happened since then with The Grumpy Goat. The new year has brought some new wax melt collections!!

Romance Collection: these sold out within the first month and thankfully was able to get more made before Valentine’s Day. The gift boxes were a huge hit and they sold out as well, but I was able to source more of the heart burners for Mother’s Day. I love all of the melts in this collection, they are absolutely stunning and I love the heart shape and the dried rose petals really finish of the look.

Coffee Shop Collection: an amazing collection of melts to take you to your favourite coffee shop without the hussle and bustle. These melts have been so popular, my favourites are Coffee Mocha, Nutcracker and Espresso Martini! I decided to decorate these melts with ground decaf coffee beans and I think they look fantastic!

Coffee Collection Wax Melts

Floral Collection: these melts are doing so well and are also stocked in Tan-Tastic Kingston Park along with the Coffee Shop Collection. My favourites are Himalayan Cedar and Jasmine, Jade Orchid and Lotus Blossom and finally, Meadow Lilly and Cotton Musk. I decided to decorate the melts with dried calendula, cornflower and rose petals and they all look really beautiful.

I have also brought out a new bath product….Bubble Bars!

I have loved learning how to make these, but man alive these were a difficult one to crack! It has taken me months to perfect the recipe but I’ve done it!

So, what are bubble bars? Bubble bars are very similar to Bath Bombs, but instead of fizzing, they create lots of lovely bubbles for you bath! I am more of a shower person so I have not used these myself, but I can say that these bubble bars would have been on sale sooner had Mr Grumpy Goat not used them all. Not kidding, he just used them all up!! I didn’t even get the chance to send out any testers to my customers! Ha! Little Grumpy Goat is a fan, but he’s just not a fan of having a bath haha!

How do you use a Bubble Bar?

Break or chop up and:

  • Add to your bath
  • Or run under a warm tap
  • Or add to a sieve and run under a warm tap for extra bubbles!!

My bubble bars use essential oils, Lavender, Rose and Lemon. I will be adding to this collection with fragrances from some of the oils that I use for my wax melts. I think the fragrances from the floral collection would be perfect, lots of lovely relaxing notes to help soothe away the stresses of the day.

Bubble Bar Packaging

Using biodegradable and plastic free packaging is very important to me and the products that I sell. I had to test the plastic free packaging with the bars to make sure that there was no reaction. The test was perfect and all of the packaging I use for the bubble bars are wrapped in biodegradable clear bags, which are made from NATIVIA®. This is a new generation of bio-based biaxially oriented flexible packaging films made of PLA polylactic acid from NatureWorks.  Thanks to the bio-based content and the lower consumption of energy, PLA delivers a lower carbon footprint and additional end of life options compared to most oil-based plastics.  All NATIVIA® films have achieved the four-star OK Biobased certificate from Vinçotte and are approved for industrial composting according to EN 13432 standard by DIN CERTCO.

When you have finished with your packaging simply add it to your home compost if you have it.  Some waste collections will accept NATIVIA® in home recycling food waste bins (please do check in your area). If you do not have any of these options please place in your household waste, not your recycling bin (it contains no plastic) where it will biodegrade harmlessly.

Am I going to be doing anything else?

Well, over the next few months I will be bringing out 2 new wax melt collections, the Fruity Collection which are an amazing collection of fruity fragrances to get you ready for the summer….and also the Cocktail Collection. So far there are going to be 5 cocktail fragranced melts. I made Peach Bellini the other weekend and it smells like heaven!

And as we head towards Autumn, I will be looking to bring a new collection which will encapsulate the darker nights and getting cosy by the fire! I will also be selling a limited amount of black cauldron wax melt burners in gift packs. These won’t be in the traditional gift packaging that I have been sending out, but in a beautiful box with all the melts from the Autumn Collecting added (with a few extras as always), but more information on this will follow later in the year.

To add to bath time, I will be making luxurious bath soak! These will be made using goats milk, honey powder and oats and fragranced with a selection of essential oils. I have placed and order for ingredients, and I already know how they are going to be packaged so fingers crossed this will be coming to the website in June! Gosh June sounds ages away but only 2 weeks until May!!

And Finally

I now have a Clearance page for melts and soaps that are now being discontinued, take a look and grab yourself a bargain, I’m selling wax melts from £1.50! Bargain!!

Take care
The Grumpy Goat xx
